Mark Petrovic is technologist and software developer. He started at
AT&T Technologies in 1984 as a semiconductor engineer, returned to
graduate school thereafter, and received a Ph.D. in physics in 1991. He
was Visiting Scientist at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in
Yorktown Heights, NY, where he did optical studies of semiconductors
and laser materials. In 1996, he was first in Sprint Internet Passport
Operations and subsequently led that group during the company's build-out
of its national consumer Internet service. Most recently he served as
Internet Architect followed by Vice President Research and Development
at EarthLink, where he incubated the company's SIP based voice service
and IPv6 to-the-home. Mark has contributed to a number of open source
projects, including JXTA Commons and UCL vic. He lives and works in the San Franciso Bay Area.
