Here's a handy summary of places to find information about Linux games and gaming. These resources will add fun to your Linux experience as well as provide resources to further your own game development work.   • FreshMeat Games Listings -- Browse categories such as Arcade, First Person Shooters, and Role Playing.

  • LinuxGames.com -- News, articles, reviews, forums, how-tos, and more, for both developers and players.

  • The Linux Game Tome -- A user-maintained database of Linux games, with news and reviews.

Resources for Linux game developers

  • LGDC: The Linux Game Development Center -- Targets developers and programmers interested in creating games for the Linux platform and provides information on libraries, tools, and projects related to game development.

  • Loki Open Source Development -- An overview of the open source gaming projects supported by Loki Entertainment Software, including information on how you can participate.

  • Gamasutra - The Art & Science of Making Games -- Although it's not a Linux-specific site, Gamasutra includes a variety of features and resources for the game developer.

  • Steve's Portable Game Library Page - PLIB is a set of open source (LPGL) libraries that are designed to help developers of interactive 3D applications, including games. All PLIB libraries are portable to almost every modern Operating System.

  • Playing Linux Games -- A sample chapter from the O'Reilly book, Learning Debian GNU/Linux.

  • Linux Multimedia Guide -- This O'Reilly book tells you how to program for such popular devices as sound cards, CD-ROMs, and joysticks.
