O'Reilly at Macworldby Derrick Story
Mac Newsletter for 01/02/2004
Dear Mac Reader,
Many of us are still in holiday mode, but all of that is going to change next week with the start of Macworld SF 2004. O'Reilly & Associates has a lot going on there, and I want to give you a brief update.
We have quite a few O'Reilly authors on the Macworld faculty: Dave McFarland, David Pogue, Dori Smith, Daniel Steinberg, and myself. Our classes are listed on the "O'Reilly Events at Macworld" page on Mac DevCenter, so you might want to take a quick look while you're planning your schedule.
I have an all-day digital photography tutorial on Tuesday, and then I'm going to lead an user session on the iSight on Wednesday. I've been hacking the iSight quite a bit over the holidays (in part because I'm working on an article for Macworld magazine), and I have lots of cool stuff to show off at the user session on Weds., so you might want to check it out.
David Pogue and I are also going to be demoing in the O'Reilly booth (2143) over the course of the expo. Our schedules are posted on the events page.
Finally, we have lots of new Mac books to show off at the expo. The new AppleScript book is dynamite, as is the Panther Missing Manual. But we have many really exciting titles, and they are all listed on the events page.
I hope to see you at the show. Please introduce yourself and let me know if you are a regular reader of this newsletter or of Mac DevCenter. Next week is a great opportunity for all of us to get to know each other a little better.
See you in SF,
Mac DevCenter Editor

Macworld Wish List for Steve
Macworld SF is like a second Christmas for many Mac users. And it all begins with Steve's keynote address. What new goodies are in store for this coming year? Here's a wish list from Mac DevCenter writers.
USB Video Conferencing with Panther
iSights are great for video conferencing ... if you have one, that is. But is there a way to use that old USB webcam with iChat AV? Wei-Meng Lee figured it out and shows you how in this article.
